These terms cover how readers, contributors and subscribers use robyndodd.com, what we ask of each other, and where the limits of our responsibility sit. They apply from the moment you open the site, send a pitch, or join the weekly letter.
What this site is
Robyn Dodd is an independent magazine and essay archive based in Cape Town. We publish long-form features, interviews, photo journals and columns on everyday South African life. Nothing here is a shop, a booking service or professional advice. Recipes, routes and studio notes are shared as editorial records, not as instructions to follow without your own judgement.
Your side of the agreement
Read, quote and link freely, but do not republish full essays or photo journals elsewhere without written permission. Pitches must be your own work and free of material you do not have the right to submit. If you subscribe to the letter, keep your details accurate and unsubscribe if you no longer want it. Do not scrape the archive, resell contributor work, or use the site to harass writers and interviewees.
Our side of the agreement
We edit for accuracy and clarity, credit contributors by name, and correct published errors when they are pointed out with evidence. We may decline a pitch, hold a piece back, or take a story down if a source withdraws consent or a factual problem cannot be resolved. Editorial decisions stay with the magazine.
Limits of responsibility
The site is provided as it stands. We do not guarantee that every link, opening time, road condition or market day mentioned in an older piece is still current. We are not liable for losses or damage arising from travel, cooking, purchases or decisions made after reading something here. Where the law does not allow a limit, our responsibility is capped at the amount you paid us, which for most readers is nothing.
Ending access
You can stop using the site at any time, and you can leave the letter with one click in any email. We may suspend or end access for accounts or contributors who break these terms, submit plagiarised work, or misuse the archive. If that happens, clauses on copyright and liability continue to apply.
Changes and legal contact
We update these terms when the site changes, and the revised version takes effect once it is posted on this page. Continued use after that counts as acceptance. For legal questions, permissions or takedown requests, write to
